Local group of outdoors people who enjoy Lake Bloomington and Evergreen Lake in Central Illinois and are working to make it better by enhancing access and habitat.
Friends of EverBloom’s mission is to positively contribute to the overall health and function of Lake Bloomington and Evergreen Lake and their associated watersheds while using enhancement, restoration and protection of fish and aquatic species, sustainability plans for these ecosystems and associated watersheds, and enhanced public awareness of conservation issues surrounding these lakes as guiding principles.
Lakes Fest was held September 17th with family activities in the morning at Comlara Park and an afternoon/evening Fish Fry Fundraiser at Lake Road Inn. Friends of EverBloom was able to raise $2,000 toward an educational water program for 3rd grade classrooms in Bloomington, Towanda,
Carlock and Hudson during this school year. Friends of EverBloom is building the curriculum and reaching out to the schools through the end of the year with classroom presentations planned for spring semester. Contact Kathryn Foster at Iwritegr8@gmail.com if you are interested in the program for your third grade classroom.
A big thank you to Craig Hansen of Lake Road Inn for hosting the event and offering the Friday night favorite fish a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
A big thanks you to our sponsors and raffle prize donors! Thanks also go to our celebrity bartenders for serving up fun.
Finally, thank you to all those who came out and enjoyed the music and drawings throughout the afternoon and evening! Because of your generosity we will have an education program for our local schools this school year!
One recommendation that FOE will implement in 2017 is to hold the family event in June at Comlara in conjunction with Family Conservation Day. The Lakes Fest fundraiser for 2017 will be in the fall.
